The Beatitudes: Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the Peacemakers.

Mat 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

When there is so much strife in between Nations such as Ukraine and Russia, Syria internally, Iraq and Nigeria; it is amazing that there is not all out war as we had in 1914-18 and 1939-45.

The problem with strife and war is that it also occurs in families too. This side of the family against that side. Hurts from the past are not forgiven and forgotten but grudges are held for years. The number of Broken marriages is an indication of a society in decline.

Repaying evil for evil and grudge for grudge is at the root of all this strife. The Devil loves all the discord and a lot of it he is at the back of it.

What is a Peacemaker

and How can we bring Peace and harmony in theses circumstances.
PE'ACEMAKER, n. One who makes peace by reconciling parties that are at variance.
I saw an example of peacemaking recently where there was some hurtful things done and said but the one who was hurt kept the communication lines open and sent flowers to the person. Soon there was an apology and a reconciliation. Now harmony has been restored.

Barnes Notes :Peacemakers :Those who strive to prevent contention, strife, and war; who use their influence to reconcile opposing parties, and to prevent lawsuits and hostilities in families and neighborhoods. Every man may do something of this; and no man is more like God than he who does it. There ought not to be unlawful and officious interference in that which is none of our business; but without any danger of acquiring this character, every man has many opportunities of reconciling opposing parties. Friends, neighbors, people of influence, lawyers, physicians, ministers of the gospel, may do much to promote peace.

for they shall be called the children of God.
God is a peacemaker for He sent His Only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, into a hostile and wicked world to make peace through the blood He shed on the Cross of Calvary. He did this to reconcile us to God who had been offended by our sin and rebellion.
Eph 2:14  For He is our peace--He who has made Jews and Gentiles one, and in His own human nature has broken down the hostile dividing wall,
Eph 2:15  by setting aside the Law with its commandments, expressed, as they were, in definite decrees. His design was to unite the two sections of humanity in Himself so as to form one new man,
Eph 2:16  thus effecting peace, and to reconcile Jews and Gentiles in one body to God, by means of His cross--slaying by it their mutual enmity.
Eph 2:17  So He came and proclaimed good news of peace to you who were so far away, and peace to those who were near;

Eph 2:18  because it is through Him that Jews and Gentiles alike have access through one Spirit to the Father.

So those who make peace and bring reconciliation are called children of God because they are showing Godly Character.
