Matthew 7:23-29 The Wise and Foolish Builders completed from last Blog

The House built on the Solid Rock does not fall

Mat 7:25  and the heavy rain falls, the swollen torrents come, and the winds blow and beat against the house; yet it does not fall, for its foundation is on rock.
THE HOUSE BUILT UPON THE ROCK

Notes.
Firm Foundations
The Old Hymn said, “ On Christ the Solid Rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.”
Heavy Rains and flooded rivers are sure to come in your life. No one misses out on trials and tribulations but of you have JESUS you will be safe.yet it does not fall, for its foundation is on rock.
The Earthquake Act_16:26  when suddenly there was such a violent shock of earthquake that the prison shook to its foundations. Instantly the doors all flew open, and the chains fell off from every prisoner.
Eph_3:17  I pray that Christ may make His home in your hearts through your faith; so that having your roots deep and your foundations strong, in love, you may become mighty to grasp the idea,
Eph 3:18  as it is grasped by all God's people, of the breadth and length, the height and depth--
Eph 3:19  yes, to attain to a knowledge of the knowledge-surpassing love of Christ, so that you may be made complete in accordance with God's own standard of completeness.

Heb_1:10  It is also of His Son that God says, "THOU, O LORD, IN THE BEGINNING DIDST LAY THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE EARTH, AND THE HEAVENS ARE THE WORK OF THY HANDS.
Heb_11:10  for he continually looked forward to the city which has the foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

Hearing and not Applying what you hear

Mat 7:26  And every one who hears these my teachings and does not act upon them will be found to resemble a fool who builds his house upon sand.
Mat 7:27  The heavy rain descends, the swollen torrents come, and the winds blow and burst upon the house, and it falls; and disastrous is the fall."
The House Built upon the SAND

Notes
This person Jesus calls a FOOL. μωρός mōrosThayer Definition: 1) foolish
2) impious, godless
Greek Moros from which we get the word moron

He knows what is right to do and he does not act upon it
His life will see a disastrous crash. According to the Word of Christ Himself, you can be sure it will happen sooner or later.
Adam Clark says And every one that heareth - and doeth them not - Was there ever a stricter system of morality delivered by God to man, than in this sermon? He who reads or hears it, and does not look to God to conform his soul and life to it, and notwithstanding is hoping to enter into the kingdom of heaven, is like the fool who built his house on the sand. When the rain, the rivers, and the winds come, his building must fall, and his soul be crushed into the nethermost pit by its ruins. Talking about Christ, his righteousness, merits, and atonement, while the person is not conformed to his word and spirit, is no other than solemn self-deception.
Let it be observed, that it is not the man who hears or believes these sayings of Christ, whose building shall stand, when the earth and its works are burnt up; but the man who Does them.
Many suppose that the law of Moses is abolished, merely because it is too strict, and impossible to be observed; and that the Gospel was brought in to liberate us from its obligations; but let all such know, that in the whole of the old covenant nothing can be found so exceedingly strict and holy as this sermon, which Christ lays down as the rule by which we are to walk. “Then, the fulfilling of these precepts is the purchase of glory.” No, it is the Way only to that glory which has already been purchased by the blood of the Lamb. To him that believes, all things are possible.
The Authority of Christ and His Teaching
Mat 7:28  When Jesus had concluded this discourse, the crowds were filled with amazement at His teaching,
Mat 7:29  for He had been teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their Scribes [religious Law teachers] taught.
Notes
Having authority - They felt a commanding power and authority in his word, i.e. his doctrine. His statements were perspicuous; his exhortations persuasive; his doctrine sound and rational; and his arguments irresistible. These they never felt in the trifling teachings of their most celebrated doctors, who consumed their own time, and that of their disciples and hearers, with frivolous cases of conscience, ridiculous distinctions, and puerile splittings of controversial hairs - questions not calculated to minister grace to the hearers.
Several excellent MSS. and almost all the ancient versions read, και οι Φαρισαιοι, and the Pharisees. He taught them as one having authority, like the most eminent and distinguished teacher, and not as the scribes and Pharisees, A.Clark.
